Innovation Research Tower sits in the heart of the Pittsburgh Innovation District, a 1.7-mile stretch in the Oakland neighborhood of Pittsburgh anchored by the University of Pittsburgh and Carnegie Mellon University. This corridor is Pittsburgh's R&D capitol and contributes one-third of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s total university R&D output.
